Make the first screen relevant
Recruiters should quickly understand the role you want and the evidence you have. Use a simple heading with contact details, portfolio, GitHub and LinkedIn links. Avoid photographs or personal details unless specifically required.
Write a focused summary
Use two or three lines describing your target role, strongest relevant skills and practical experience. Replace broad claims such as hardworking with evidence from a project, internship or achievement.
Turn projects into proof
For each project, state the problem, your action, technology and outcome. For example: built a Django request portal with role-based approval and automated email updates; wrote tests for key permissions and deployed it to a cloud service.
Keep skills honest
Group skills by language, framework, database and tools. Include only skills you can discuss in an interview. Match terminology from the role description without copying abilities you do not have.
Final checklist
- Keep it to one page when experience is limited.
- Use consistent dates and formatting.
- Check every link and spelling.
- Save as a readable PDF with your name in the filename.
- Tailor the order of sections for each role.
Your resume earns attention; your portfolio and explanation build trust. Keep all three consistent.
